What a wonderful July 4th weekend we had!! Since Chad has been working so many hours this past year, we were so blessed to have him home for a 3-day weekend and it was full of relaxation, family fun and adventures!
On 4th of July, we started out the day by riding in the 3M truck in the parade. We did it last year for the first time and signed up again to do it this year. The girls had so much fun throwing candy and we had to stop H at times because she would throw it out whether there was people or not!! And it wasn't as hot as last year but I kept her cool by squirting her with her water bottle and giving her sips of water. And I think I spent more time taking pictures than handing the candy out but oh well, that's what everyone else was for! :)
Getting ready to leave the plant
for our drive to the parade!
This is the girls in the back of the truck
yesterday waiting for the parade to start.
This is the girls last year in the back of the truck!
Here is another pic of the girls last year
sitting in the cab waiting for the parade to start.
Notice how V is NOT happy- we had only
been in AR for 2 weeks and had NOT adjusted
to the heat yet!! This year we handled it a lot better though. :)
This is the car that was behind us!
They were handing out cotton candy and I almost
went up to them and asked for some.
I LOVE cotton candy!! :)
(I should've traded them some 3M products)
Chad and Kevin schmoozing handing out goodies
to the fellow parade participants!
I sure love this guy!! :)
Organizing all the goodies/candy to be handed out.
I love V's personality- she saw a need, took charge
and organized it all. Just like her daddy!
All ready to start!
and we're off!!
Coming up to a group of people!
While we stayed in the truck and threw the goodies
out, Chad walked up to people in their houses and
cars and handed it to them. He was loving it!
Here we are!! :)
After the parade was done, we went back
to where it was and handed out the last
few remaining goodies. I think Chad and V just wanted to
drive through in the dune buggy! :)
When we were done, V said "I loved
the look on people's faces when I handed
them things!"
(I think I need to go on some mission
trips with this girl!!)
After the parade we went to IHOP for some lunch. Then we went to the Clinton Library because it was free admission. Woo hoo! We saved about $20, had fun as a family and I got to see the Elvis exhibit! Totally worth it for me! :)
I would love to take a little spin in this
car with Elvis Chad! ha ha!
These outfits looked great on him
but not so good otherwise.
Look at that thing- if someone wore
that today, my oh my.
Need I say more?!?
This made me want to go back to Graceland
since my "obsession" started AFTER I went
there. Good thing I live only 2 hours away! :)
After the library, we went home where I finished the cupcake flag cake and we watched a movie together. What a fun day this was!!
I wanted to add a few
more cupcakes to make the flag bigger and frost it so it looked like a cake
but I barely had enough frosting to do this much!
Oh well, there's always next year!
This was last year's cake!
Here is the fam eating the cupcakes.
This was the fam last year eating our
4th of July bbq dinner! Notice the boxes still
unpacked- we only had been here 2 weeks!
Finally, it was time for fireworks! We went to the family celebration near our house around 7:30 and they did the fireworks around 9.
Collecting flags and stickers
Hanging out
V and her friend Keeli
Let the fireworks begin! This was the first
year H saw them and knew what they were and
she loved them so much she clapped through most of them. :)
Here is a pic of her looking up at them.
The kids all together watching them.
hope you had a blessed 4th of July celebration also!!
