I did it!

Yesterday while I was driving to the grocery store to pick up a few items to make some GF scones and an orange chiffon cake an interesting thought popped in my head. I am going to blog! After planning, researching, praying and talking to my family about it- here it is!! At first, my inspiration came from the Julie and Julia movie. I LOVED that movie and was so intrigued by Julie's year of blogging and cooking through Julia Child's french cookbook I thought I would do something of the same idea, only bake something everyday for a year and blog about it. I could combine my love of baking, photography and writing. That sounded SO exciting to me! Then I talked to my husband and daughter about it and they thought I should not limit it to my baking but expand it to include my thoughts about being a wife and mom, women's ministry leader, encourager- all the hats that I so proudly wear in my life! It was an amazing feeling to have my husbands support and encouragement! WOW! At first I wasn't so excited but I gave it some thought and decided, "yeah, I like this. I could make this work." So, I thought of a creative name that encompassed all that I dreamed of this to be and sat down and here it is!!
As far as the baking bit, yesterday I made my 3rd batch of GF (gluten free) scones this week, this morning I made banana muffins in my "new" square muffin pan and tonight I made the orange chiffon cake for the ladies movie night. My scones were still on the tough side, Victoria didn't like the "crust" on the muffins and my cake fell a little flat on one side. I was talking to Victoria on the way to the movie (she came with me) and she said "mom, it doesn't matter what it looks like, it just matters that you took the time to make something for someone else!" Who taught that girl what she knows??? :) So, I don't have any pictures of what I baked this weekend but I hope to include that in my upcoming blogs.
I was trying to give up coffee... I did real well, I went to Cub and bought a pound of coffee. At least it is cheaper than going to Starbucks every day! AND, I made GF scones. I HAVE to have scones with my coffee. So, I am going to focus on the fact that I am saving money and I am not going to feel guilty for eating the scones because they are GF. I am choosing to focus on that! There, I feel better already after reading that. :)
