A fun day

Today I decided H and I were going to have a fun day.  Sometimes, a person just needs a day just like that and we were those persons!  We are in the process of trying to find a new bed/dresser for H since she is getting older and I am in need of a new "house project".  Plus she LOVES to play outside at the park and it was going to be a beautiful day out after it seems like weeks of rain and clouds!
So..... my plan for the day was to go to the furniture store, Goodwill to see if I can pick up someone else's junk and turn it into my treasure and the park for a picnic lunch!  And that's exactly what we did!!

It started out with the girls enjoying the Valentine
card their precious cousin Evie sent them!

Then it involved packing up a bag
of fun things to do in the car.

Posing for a few pics as only H can do!

And off we were on our fun day!!

First stop....
the furniture store to "try out" some beds.  :)

She was just the BEST little shopper today!!

She is so funny- she has to "pretend" she is sleeping
on each one.  I wonder what she is thinking!

This one is my favorite- it is sooo cute!!!
I don't like the dresser so much but I adore
the bed!  Wonder what Chad will think of it?!?

And of course, hamming it up
for the camera as only H can do.  :)

Next stop... Goodwill where I found this
Nordic Track. Boy oh boy, did this bring back
some memories.  Memories of buying this thing
about 15 years ago thinking I was going to faithfully
excercise on it.  And let me tell ya, I think I could
count on one hand how many times I used it!  :)

And here is my awesome finds at Goodwill!!
A $5 pair of jeans, Mike the Mulligan Steam Shovel book
for 50 cents that brought back memories from my grade school
days and 3 dora books for H for 50 cents each.  Score!!!

Now it's onto the park and our picnic lunch.
I had these grand plans of sitting on a picnic bench
or sitting in the back of my truck with the window open
and enjoying the 60 degree weather!  But, as soon as I
parked, there was a bee flying continually around my
windows so I decided very quickly we were going to enjoy
our lunch INSIDE the truck with the windows up.

So, we just put the middle seat down, used it as our
table and sat in the back.  And my oh my, we had a
delightful time!  Except that it felt like a 100 degrees in
there because I didn't turn on the truck nor open the windows!
And all she wanted to do was play so I had to hurry and eat
my lunch so we could go outside.  But all in all,
it was the memories that counted.  And we sure made
some happy ones!  :)

On our way to the park to play!

She had so much fun swinging!

And going down the slide!

I even got in the action and went down the slide too!
And don't ask my why I am bundled up to my neck
and my dear darling daughter is in shorts and a t-shirt.  :)
I think that's the difference between my kids and me-
I am always cold and they are always hot!!

Nothing puts a smile on my face
like watching my precious
children enjoy life.

The simple things in life like
parks and picnics and time with
their mommy and daddy.
Priceless.

Oh yes, we also had to stop and bounce in the
police car!

On the way home from the park she told
me she wanted to ride in a police car
when she is older and she said she wanted
to bounce in the car.  Now I realize why!!

After her nap and getting V from school,
we spent an hour outside playing it was so warm!

V's friend from school picked her up and they
rode bikes and played basketball.
That girl is growing up TOO fast!!!

All I can say is "thank You Lord" for an amazing day!!

Valentine's Day

Our valentines day wasn't at all what I had hoped it would be.  But at the end of the day, I knew we had spent time together just being a family and that in itself, is a blessing that I will cherish forever.  Chad had an all day work meeting at our house, so my "job" was to make and serve them all lunch.  And I loved it!!  I made chicken ceasar pasta salad, garlic toast and strawberry pretzel salad.  And for dessert I made brownie cupcakes and lemon pound cake.  It was so fun to have a large group of people at our house all day, set the table all fancy and serve them lunch!  It was almost as good as having a party!!  Only it wasn't "my guests" I chose, it was my husbands co-workers but I didn't care- I just loved it all!
Then I put H down for a nap, read my nook for a while and then ran off to V's school valentine party... all by myself!  (Chad was still home to watch H while she napped- yet another perk of having Chad's meeting at our house!)  Then, on our way home we had to stop and buy milk and since it's just a little grocery store I park near the front and let V run in by herself.  Sometimes she likes to buy me a treat and surprise me and yesterday was no exception!  She bought me a pink rose for Valentine's day.  Sweet girl!!!  After that we came home, got H up from her nap and the 3 of us hung out waiting for Chad to be done.  After a dinner of leftovers (sad to say but I had just made a big lunch!!), we watched the movie "The Help" that V bought me for Christmas.  What a wonderful Valentines Day we had together!
Here is V and Chad making her Valentine box for her school party.  This year they are making an Ipad!

Here she is gluing on the "apps"- conversation
candy hearts!  Chad thought of that... brilliant!

Isn't that just the cutest valentine box ever?!?

This is the back of the Ipad!

I thought it would be so fun to show pics of
the last time they made her valentine box...
in 3rd grade and they made Wall-E!!

Hmm, I wonder who is doing most of the work here!

Isn't that just the cutest thing ever?!?!?

And here they are with the finished product
in 6th grade!

I'd say it looks pretty much like the real one!!

Valentine's Day morning getting ready to go
to school.  Notice the posters on the back wall?
That's where Chad and his co-workers spent the day!

And here is my other little Valentine
watching Mickey Mouse who refused to look at me!

Here is V at her school party checking
through her valentines!!

After V and I got home from school, our wonderful
neighbor brought over treats for the girls.

"Hmmm, I wonder what this is!"

H is opening up the little valentine treats we bought her.

Mickey mouse and stickers....
the way to this girl's heart!

Now it is V's turn to open her valentine
treats and has her sister to help her!

Be still my beating heart.

I am so thankful for my family-  my 3 valentines!!

I hope you had a blessed and love filled Valentine's Day!!

Our first annual Christmas lights in pj's trip

I know it's the new year and Christmas was last year!  But just pretend with me that it's just before Christmas and we are eagerly awaiting to celebrate it.
Every year I try to continue our family traditions and also try to add a new one here and there.  This year, we added one- going to look at Christmas lights in our pj's!  Actually, the girls were in their pj's and Chad and I were in our robes (with our clothes undereath!).  He was a little hesitant at first, but got into it once we were out and we had so much fun!

We have a place near our house that has a drive thru lights
display and it is so beautiful and fun to see!  So that's where
we started.

Candy cane time!

After leaving Sherwood Forest, we drove aroud
looking at decorated houses.  V knew of a place
that was all "decked out" so we went there next!

This place was awesome!
There wasn't a spot on the front lawn that
wasn't covered and they even had a path
through the middle of their lawn to walk through!

Chad was a little hesitant (again) about
leaving our truck to walk around the house
but as you can see, he quickly got over that!

What a good daddy!

We even met Santa there!

Now we're off to Chik-Fil-A for
chicken nuggets and peppermint shakes!

We thought about going inside to order but I was
the one who chickened out and picked the drive-thru!

Mission complete!
Now it's off to home to watch 2 of my favorite
Christmas movies- Elf and Christmas with the Kranks!

We had such a great time we
can't wait to do it again next year!
